Position Overview: We are looking for an individual (bilingual preferred) who can help engage with patients starting from first contact through their entire healthcare experience. The Optometric Assistant is someone who possesses strong communication skills, is organized and is compassionate. This person must have the ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining empathy and have good basic arithmetic skills. In addition, this person must be able to learn new things and apply them to daily tasks in order to help provide excellent care of patients.
Position Responsibilities: answer phones, texts, emails in a timely fashion; maintain a neat, welcoming organized office environment (light cleaning, disinfecting of equipment, bagging up trash, vacuuming, maintain frame boards, etc...); look up insurance and file insurance claims; help patients select the proper eyewear and to educate them on lens options that are best for them; contact lens insertion and removal; preliminary testing; diagnostic testing; sales transactions; other administrative and customer service responsibilities that can not be all be listed in this short space.
