National Human Trafficking Prevention Month
Did you know January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month? According to the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, (and its reauthorizations) human trafficking includes forced labor and sex trafficking. This continues to be an international threat of peace and security that also happens locally. It can happen to anyone, anywhere.
In the fight against human trafficking, the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office Human Trafficking Unit investigates crimes involving trafficking of persons and handles all runaway cases. The Fort Bend County Human Trafficking – Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit combats crimes committed against the youngest and most vulnerable members of our community. This initiative is conducted in partnership with surrounding area law enforcement agencies and private non-profit outreach programs.
If you or anyone you know needs help, call the FBCSO Human Trafficking Hotline at 281-341-3800 or your local law enforcement agency. Remember, if you see something, say something. You could save a life.
